Naples - Part two

The good things about Naples:
The people
The food
The fun
The sight seeing
The gelato(icecream)
The view
The weather

The bad things about Naples:
They eat late, and with late I mean late, late!
They drive like crazy
The steep hills
Now I think you are waiting for me to write about the garbage, but seriously that wasn't as bad as they portretted it in the news

Ok some of you asked for stories, here we go:

Day one: I didn´t go to sleep, I stayed up all night and went to the airport at 4 in the morning. My plane had a delay and I was getting soooo tired while waiting, but I didn´t wanted to fall asleep before getting in the plane, afraid to miss it completely! So finally I set my behind in a chair in the plane and I fell asleep right away and slept all the way to Naples, lovely :)
I was greeted by Sonia and Lory, two lovely and happy girls who took me to the hotel. After having lunch at Simona her house and meeting her wonderful husband and the other Italian girls(Pallina, Irene and Tiziana) we went back to the hotel, which was BTW gorgeous! I stayed there all day with them organizing their shop and preparing my kits. I just missed Jamie and Emily who went that day to the island Capri. In the afternoon I went to my room to get some sleep, but two phone calls kept me awake. Anyway, I did felt a bit better just after lying on bed for a while.

In the evening we went back to Simona her house and she and a few of their friends cooked us diner. Jamie and Emily came also with their family and it was fun to be sitting all together eating pasta. I fell in love with Yindi from the moment I saw her, what a happy child she is. Ivy was checking everyone out at first but in the end of the weekend we had such a good time. These kids eat everything!
After a gelato we went to the hotel and to my bed I went.

Day two: I woke up at 6 of a dog barking for 10 minutes......nice!! I fell asleep again, but woke up more tiring. I had one class that day and decided to also do one class with Lory while I was there. Her class just rocked and I am so going to finish my album soon! My workshop went OK and I had pasta for lunch. I was almost starving cause I normally eat around 12 and now it was almost 2. the next few days I took some croissants from breakfast for my in between lunch at 12 :)
After lunch I went with Jamie and her husband Chris to Pompeii by train. It made quite an impressing to all of us, such a huge city gone in a few moments through the eruption of the vulcano Versuvius. We walked around all afternoon and thanks to Chris his travel book from Rick Steves we got all the inside information while we walked around. I took a lot of photo's while we where there. We went back by train. In the evening we also ate late for my standards but we ate a 'panmocha'  or something like that(girls help me out please!) delicious toasted pizza bread filled with cheese and vegetables, yum! In the evening we also had a crop, but I hardly did a thing, still too tired so I chatted some here and there with everyone and went to bed around 1 I believe.

Day 3: I woke up at 6 of a dog barking for 10 minutes....yes again!! I fell back asleep for awhile and than got up, took a shower and went to get breakfast. I gave two workshops that morning and had a lot of fun with the girls in my classes. I saw Flo, Céline and Stephanie again(we met in Versaille last year at PACS France) and I met Gudrun and Lene from Norway. In the afternoon I took 2 of Emily her classes and it was so relaxing and so darn creative, she just rocked my world! In the evening we had diner on the roof of the Hotel which was just gorgeous. Chris learned me how to shoot in Manual and I finally understood(you can tell me it 1000 times but that just doesn't click for me, but when I can see it, do it, it makes more sense) and he also learned me more little tricks with light, thanks Chris! In the evening we had a crop party again and a lot of prizes were handed out. Italian people can be very loud in their speaking when they are enthusiastic and we,Lene, Gudrun, Sara and I, shook up when the tone went louder which made us look at each other and laugh out loud. Such a good time, tears streaming down our faces. After 1 I fell asleep.

Day 4: I woke up at 6 of a dog barking for 10 minutes....do you notice a pattern? seriously I could kill the dog at that point. This was my busy day I had to teach 3 workshops and I also did a workshop in between by Lory. I wasn't the only one who was tired all the girls were so the workshops were relaxed and fun. I gave a few of them on the rooftop of the hotel which was nice. I said goodbye in the end of the day to a lot of girls. So many spoiled me with super creative gifts they made themselves, I loved all of them!
At night we went out to diner and all the teachers and a few friends. we were with 8 people in one car :) and didn't I tell you that they drive like crazy in Naples. Seriously not one, NOT ONE, car was without a dent or scratches! But we survived the ride and went to an Italian restaurant to eat Pizza. I ate around 11 I think, yes, in the evening....can you hear my tummy rumble? It was good food and it was so much fun, I think we were with over 20 people there. Went to bed pretty late I would say :)

Day 5: I woke up at 6 of a dog barking for 10 minutes....what can I say. I was already packed and after breakfast I turned in my key. We(Jamie, Chris and I) waited for the girls to come and pick us up from the hotel to go to Napels. They arrived a little bit later as planned but they were just so tired of the whole weekend and who could blame them right, they worked so hard! We went by car. Massimo, Lory her boyfriend was a good driver and we arrived safe and sound in Naples. I only got to see a small part of it since I had to head back to the airport. I said goodbye to everyone and walked back to get a cab to bring me to the airport. The taxidriver couldn' t drive, seriously I think we were almost in an accident twice.....at least! but again I arrived save and sound and checked my luggage in. The flight back went good as well, slept a bit, listened to my I-pod. My dad came to pick me up and I arrived around 8 in the evening at home where I was greeted by 3 men who had missed me while I was away(and I them too of course).

All and all it was such a good 5 days. I want to thank all the Italian girls for being so welcoming and I also want to make a huge compliment to the team for organizing such a good event for the first time. I loved meeting Emily and her family as well and Jamie and her McSteamy...uhm I mean Chris ;) were just the sweetest!!! I hope to see everyone again one day!

Ciao!!!!!

Ok, ok, here is a photo of my new hair cut, you can't see it all but I am sure I am making up to that after Italy ;)

I am by the way completely done! I am now going to finish packing my bags and than relax on the couch I think :). I have to get up at 3 am, yes you read that right, to get to the airport by 4 am, but that is OK since I will be arriving in Naples at 9 am which gives me all day to look around :)

I will try to update but am not sure if it will be possible, if not see you Tuesday!

Almost finished!

Woohoo! I am almost finished and packed to go to Italy, what a relief!
Here is a sneak peek of one of my workshops:
Sneak
The paper is from the Romantic Colletion from SIStv and that gorgeous vintage tag(inside even more tags from her!) was custumized for me by the Oh so talented Meriam, truly she is so talented.

I just got back from the hospital and they put a camera through my nose to look at my vocal cords....yeah! Luckily I am OK and there was nothing on them. I think it was stress related that I had problems with my voice in the last few months(now it is going ok).

Got my hair cut this morning. I just had to come to Italy looking sharp right :)
It is shorter which gives me more curls in the back. I like it.

(stole this image from your blog Adrienne hehe)
I just saw The Farmhouse Chic Collection at SIStv and I am so sad that I didn't got that one because...well look at it, doesn't this kit says: ' you need me, I will rock your lo´s?!'

I have been thinking a lot the last few days, that I want to do things differently and I have a few touch choices to make I am afraid. But in the end I think it will take me where I want to go.

Focus Corinne, focus!

Ok so what do I do when I am under stress and have major deadlines? I do anything BUT work on them in a rapid pace. Instead of working I watched the season finally of Grey's Anatomy on-line. 2 hours and I actually cried in the end, seriously I did, what a joy....OK no spoilers here :)
In case you haven't seen it or still are stuck in a million episodes ago since your country is not sending the seasons out at the same time(like here in the Netherlands and I know England as well) go over HERE and make yourselve one happy woman :)

I however did start working after this and I already packed one of my kits and am working on one of the mini-albums.

Yesterday was a terrible day. Anthony had to get two shots in his arms(all children who are 9 get this) and it was done in a sport complex in a huge hall where everyone was waiting for their turn. Now two years ago some boy said to Anthony: "When you get 9 you are getting two shots in your arms and they hurt very much!" Since that day he kept talking about the shots and he was afraid of it. So when he turned eight he said: Oh no just one more year and than I get these shots...freaking out. This came back more often in the last few months since he became 9 this year. So you see this fear has been building for two years and even though we tried to take the fear away by talking explaining etc, it didn"t help that well. So I got him out of school, he was doing still OK, only a bit nervous.

When we park there and get out the first child we see is a boy that is on his soccer team. He was crying(already got his shots)....not good. We walked further to the entrance where it was already busy with mom and kids. We saw no other kids crying there. He was nervous walking around, I let him. At the table where you had to give your papers I told them he has an Autistic disorder and that he was very very afraid. She told me to go stand in line with him.

Now here is the fun part...I called Anthony that he needed to come stand beside me. We were in a line waiting BUT you can see the children getting their shots. So one look at a child who said ouch when the needles came in(they do it at the ame time in each upper arm) and he lost it.....completely. Screaming, wanting to run away, crying, hyperventilating and I was trying to keep him there with all my power. I tell you the sweat was running down my back like crazy. Of course every mother/father and child there looked at us and I felt so sad for my son. When it was our turn the woman said that I could better take him to the table in the back where they will help me with him.

A man and a woman took us to a back room where Anthony was still flipping....hard. I finally set him on my lap on the chair holding him tightly and they gave him his shots while he was screaming his lungs out.

After that he calmed down rather quickly and we could go home.

Afterwards I felt very angry that the woman at the front table didn't directly send me to the people in the back, I know that this would have been so much easier for the both of us.

Scrap! is going German!

Scrap! magazine just released it's first German issue! I have a few things in there I've been told, but I have no idea which ones of my articles is translated :)
This is the cover:
SCRAP!-cover-DE
So make sure you get it you German Scrapbookers out there ;)

Oh one more thing about the ScrapAwards, People from Belgium can enter as well :)

I am swamped, seriously. I had it all planned out and organized this month, but than Italy came along and who could have said no to that right?! So all deadlines had to be done like RIGHT NOW! so this is why I am not very active here or on the boards right now, working my butt off as they say....but all is good in the end, it always is :)
Dh is taking the kids this Sunday all day to see his brother so I have all day to work and get prepared for Italy.

Oh but I do have one of the deadlines to show you. It is a lo which I did for cherryArte with their Girl Story paper and Rub-Ons.
Beautiful-and-sweet
The tree stamp is from Banana Frog which is absolutly such a cool company with such cool designs, go check them out, I will be making a few things soon with their stuff.

Have fun today!

Do you have what it takes?

Scrapawards08

To become the Queen of scrapbooking!? Scrap! magazine is running a huge contest called "The Scrapawards"(only for Dutchies, sorry). In order to get this title and all that comes with it(which is A LOT!) you have to complete 6 assignments/challenges so we know what you have to offer. The deadline is the FIRST of June, so you better get your act together and start today!

I am one of the judges who will help pick the winner. I thought I would share with you some tips that you can use in your projects, things am going to look at while searching for the winner.

1. Good and clear photo's. You do not have to be an amazing photographer but we want your photo's to be of a good quality and the colors have to be right and they can't be too dark.

2. Journaling. Please journal on everything you make, even if it is just one sentence. Journaling tells me more than just a title.

3. Technique. Try to use at least one technique on each project. Remember that a technique doesn't have to be difficult, it can be some inking, sanding your photo's or sewing on your lo. Of course we would like to see some new technique that are innovation, but certainly not on every lo. If you did a cool technique make sure you make a note about that in your email.

4. The subject. Make sure your work has something that will get my attention, something that is different than the rest. Think outside the box, challenge yourself to do more than what is already done.

These are the main thing I look at. So make sure you use these tips in all your projects and you are already a step towards that title!

Now do not think you are not good enough to win this, remember you never know unless you try! Even if you do not win, you still have a change to get published in upcoming magazines(I do take notes :))
And in the worst case scenario you have 6 cool projects finished :)

So I hope you enter and if you have any questions left let me know and I will answer them for you!

Made this lo yesterday evening at the pace of a snail while my friend Revlie was with me for a chat and to do some cropping. My hand is doing somewhat better, due to some pills and some kind of lotion that I put on it for these kinds of things. So I kept it simple and still it took me all evening to finish this lo.
Woke up this morning and now I am also feeling my shoulder which is totally purple/blue. I guess I have to take things slowly for another few days...which is hard to do for me.

This afternoon Anthony will have another soccer tournament, last week they became second, hopefully they will do good today as well.

Hope you have a good weekend!!
